Flooding Pictures

These pictures are of Rome City flooding sent to me by a viewer who lives near Waldron Lake near Westlakes Marina. You can see the flooding is quite extensive. Many areas near lakes, especially in the channel areas where waters filled the streets and parking lots with water. Many people are still stuck in their homes and not able to go to work.

Good photos. The last time we had water like this was I believe back in Dec. of 1993. It was a little higher then this. I think I have some photos I could send you if you are interested.

It seems every year the summer level of the water does not get back to "normal" of what we knew it was ten and more years ago.

The reason is high rate of release from develop. in the Kend. area. Also many farmers have tiled their fields with new plastic pipe and have added addtional lines.

Water coming into the West Lake chain is caused by two stream that feed the lake. The one comes from the Kend. area and the other from the Otter lake region.

JQ,
I'll have to take you at your word on the West Lakes area flooding. But I will tell you that in my humble opinion it's not all because of the asphalt and farmers putting tile in their fields. You have to look at a couple of other factors.
1. Heavy, in fact 100-year rains across the area.
2. Combine the heavy rain with snow melt from 10 to 15 inches of snow in the area and you've got a real mess.
There was really no place for the water to go since the snow melt already soaked into the ground and that left run off back into streams and then rivers. I found it interesting that in many areas the flooding was because of channel water flowing over their banks.
Thanks for the comment!
