Don't put the coats away

Even though the short term forecast looks mild the weekend has some cold air spilling into the region.
By Friday there is a large area of low pressure at 850 mb which has some cold air (-4) rotating around it.
By Saturday this air invades northern Indiana and the Great Lakes region.

Still a strong northerly flow Sunday. This is the European which is usually a very good indicator of cold air. We'll see how this shapes up.

You and I had a little back and forth at the end of March about recent precipitation misses. So, when I saw this last night in the NWS forecast discussion, I knew it wouldn't rain---

"STRONG MODEL AGREEMENT THROUGH THE PERIOD ALONG WITH DECENT
INITIALIZATION ALLOWS FOR A HIGH CONFIDENCE SHORT TERM FORECAST."

Just to be fair I don't know what this is referring too. There have been fronts moving through and I can see consistancy in that forecast, but I have to admit that I will go back and read forecast discussions later after I've done my forecast. I don't like to cloud my mind with someone elses thoughts. Just for the record it did rain a bit overnight, but not much. I know what you are getting at though.
