We are still in a strong La Nina pattern which I expect will begin to back off over the next couple of weeks. Two very strong and dynamic jet stream patterns will each bring in storm systems. It looks like we will see the northern stream dominating our weather for the next several days.
We will continue to watch this 'clipper' type system in the northern stream over the next couple of days with a tight gradient which could translate to some gusty winds for us by the end of the week.
A tighter gradient and low pressure begins to move across the area tomorrow morning with some rain possible but still a mild air mass with temperatures in the 50s.
The actual colder air will move through late Thursday and early Friday. You can see the changes across the 'Front Range' and northern Rockies by Friday morning as well.
Here is a look at 850 mb on the European model. This is why I will continue to throw some 'cold water' on a big warm up for the weekend. You can see the northern stream front is still sitting across the area Friday morning with 850 mb temperatures at about 0C. How can you rationalize a temperature above 40 degrees Fahrenheit on the surface that day. (Read post below this one)
Then Saturday some moderately colder air moves in with 850 mb temperatures around -2C
This doesn't warm much by 7am Sunday so I don't see a warm up at all on Saturday.
By Tuesday I do see some interaction with the southern stream and some very warm temperatures to our south!
