La Nina the evil cousin of El Nino

So you've no doubt heard the El Nino or ENSO thrown about in weather circles for the last several years. In simple terms El Nino is when the sea surface temperatures are warmer. This usually brings a warmer then normal Winter for our part of the country and drier then normal as far as snowfall. El Nino is a Winter time pattern which is strongest from December through March. Now on the that evil cousin La Nina. To be fair La Nina is not really talked about as much as El Nino but it as just as important. I watched in horror the other day as weather presenter Dave Price tried to refer to La Nina but just kept getting deeper into uncertainty the more he talked about the pattern. So La Nina is the opposite of El Nino bringing in colder sea surface temperatures. This pattern tends to make the coastal wind patterns stronger and weather systems seem to be colder and certainly strike more often. Many times we see colder then normal Winters with this pattern and more snowfall than normal Both of these are certainly true for this Winter so far.

throw some more light on the statement when you say that 'LA NINA is opposite of El nino because opposite of el nino ' because the opposite can be the normal weather conditions. When we relate La nina as phenomenon responsible for some severe weather conditions ,then where will you draw a line between La nina and Global warming .

I really don't know what you are talking about here??? La Nina is a oscillation that affects seasonal conditions from December to March. It has NOTHING to do with global warming and it never has and never will enter into this debate.

see my point is that how are you so sure that the seasonal conditions and its disasterous effects are from LA nina.

it can be because of global warming isnt it ??

Well if you want to use that logic then this is actually Global Cooling! So there goes your Global Warming theories. Please do not turn this blog into a lame debate about Global Warming. I'm really not into debating 'flawed' science which is now just politics.

i am not getting into the debate of global warming ...

if you say global warming is kind of flawed science then let me tell you la nina also has connections with this kind of science.

how can one be so sure that the weather conditions is due to La nina, el nino or global warming ?

I given you an explanation of what La Nina is and what evidence we have that directly correlates to the weather pattern we are experiencing. It's certainly not 'pie in the sky' science here. How can it be flawed when there is empirical evidence to support it. This kind of evidence is the 'gold standard' in the study of science. It's difficult for me to debate logically with someone proposing an illogical argument. So unless you have evidence to support your claim I find it very difficult to have any kind of scientific discussion with you. I'm not trying to be difficult here but I need to argue apples against apples
