So what's the deal with this snow. This is a little 500 mb short wave trof moving through the area. It is what we call a 'speed max' since it gets much of its forcing mechanism from a low level jet stream maxima. This gives us a little area of enhanced snow. Usually these don't amount to much. But if you get a chance take a look at the snow. Large flakes that are very spread out.
