Yesterday the National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for most of the area from Fort Wayne and to the south. Right now I think that is only about 50 to 100 miles off. Here's the scenario, A northern weather system will move through our area with very little moisture. The second system is a south moving across southern Indiana by Tuesday evening. This watch has been issued with a lot of things that have to happen and I beleive there's too many uncertainties with the scenario. The southern weather system has all the energy and moisture and the two systems don't look like they are going to phase. The watch has been issued on the assumption that these systems will phase and that the southern weather system will move toward a more northwesterly track because that's what happened to a lot of our systems this year. At this point I can't buy into this 'iffy' solution to issue a watch for what might be a couple of inches of snow and has to be the 'perfect storm' to verify as a winter storm warning for our area which has to produce 6 inches of snow. Here's a look at the models and you can see the southern system and the track has it going across southern Indiana, southern Ohio and towards the east coast.
